so i made a little gif anim there… thought it was funny how i sat there in this inn watching people move in and out… took some screens and when i tried to decide which one to show in my gallery, well, i decided to use them all…

it has been a while since i posted my last set of pictures from my adventures in Skyrim, so i piled tons of new images… the hardest part was to sort out all the crap noone but me would find funny, but i finally managed to make a selection… which probably still makes no sense to anybody, but i like them… so here we go:

die unterhaltungskonzerne schreien zeter und mordio und politiker werden ganz hektisch… ich sehe da eine ähnliche problematik wie bei andern lobbies, wie der des öls oder der des tabaks: geld bedeutet macht und ein politiker muss nicht einmal korrupt sein um in bedrängnis zu geraten, wenn sehr reiche zivilisten ihnen auf die pelle rücken.

was mich dabei am meisten aufregt ist die ständige behauptung der medienkonzerne, daß ihnen bestimmte verluste durch illegale kopien entstünden. dabei werden horrende summen genannt, ohne jegliche erklärung.

allgemein kann man wohl davon ausgehen, daß die feinen herren (und damen) meinen, jede verdammte kopie sei ein nicht getätigter kauf…

das ist der größte bullshit den ich je gehört habe! und ich höre mir diese diskussion schon seit über 20 jahren an. denn die gibt es ja nicht erst seit dem internet…

wenn ich mich jedoch mal ein wenig umhöre, dann wird schnell klar, daß die meiste kopiererei einfach nur gemacht wird, weil man es kann. gekauft würde so oder so nichts! man sammelt eben, was man bekommen kann, aber dann gammeln die dateien irgendwo auf diversen festplatten herum, ohne jemals wieder beachtet zu werden. ich spreche hier aus erfahrung…

ich persönlich lade mir ab und zu kram herunter, um es zu testen. wenn es mir gefällt, dann kaufe ich es. wenn es scheiße ist, wird es sofort wieder gelöscht. oder eben vergessen…

das gilt für alle arten von unterhaltungsmedien, und meiner meinung nach sollte die industrie das internet lieber als chance sehen, als kostengünstiges, weit umfassendes vertriebsmedium, welches wunderbar genutzt werden kann um zu testen, was die menschen mögen und was sie ablehnen.

produziert einfach weniger mist und mehr qualität, dann werdet ihr sehen, daß durchaus kaufbereitschaft vorhanden ist. aber den ganzen shit, den ihr ständig raus haut… wer soll denn das bitte alles kaufen? aber da sieht man halt auch wieder, wie die jungs und mädels ticken: je mehr wir produzieren, desto mehr verkaufen wir…

das ist leider nicht korrekt. eigentlich offensichtlich, aber wenn die teure designersonnenbrille die sicht behindert… was will man machen.

ich würde ja vorschlagen: mehr liebe geben, mehr liebe bekommen. und menschen bezahlen für liebe, das sollte klar sein!

i generally try to avoid spoilers in the stuff i show and be as vague as possible in the descriptions, but there is some screens i believe you should only watch if you have been to that specific area already. as i am not *that* far into the game it should not be a problem, and i am pretty sure everybody has seen much more than i have (that’s why i still don’t watch *any* Skyrim related stuff), but i am just saying, if you haven’t been to “High Hrothgar” or “Shimmermist Caves”, go Elsweyr! ;)

Astrid: das ist der champion im verschlimmbessern. erstmal funktionierte nach einem der vielen updates der Google Tasks sync nicht mehr korrekt bis überhaupt nicht mehr, viele viele user beschwerten sich. aber statt das problem zu fixen machten die entwickler lieber ein overhaul des interfaces, welches kurz davor bereits überarbeitet worden war. diese vorherige änderung war bereits gewöhnungsbedürftig und hakelig zu  bedienen, aber ich hatte mich gerade daran gewöhnt. und jetzt ist es vollkommen umständlich, zusätzlich funktioniert einiges nicht so wie es soll. bei eingabe einer uhrzeit für die fälligkeit beispielsweise kann man die minute mit pfeilen addieren oder subtrahieren, allerdings nur in einer-schritten. bei eingabe einer dauer geht es dagegen nach wie vor in 5-minuten-schritten. wäre ja auch nicht so schlimm, wenn man korrekt per tastatur werte wie gewohnt eingeben könnte. dazu muss man aber nun mehrmals auf das eingabefeld tatschen, bis die tastatur erscheint. nervig! und das ist nur ein beispiel, ich kann garnicht alles aufzählen was da noch nervt…
dann ist sda der bereits erwähnte sync, oder lack there of. es ist zwar nach einem update etwas besser geworden und fehler könnten auch teilweise durch überlastung von Googles servern auftreten, aber warum versucht es Astrid nicht einfach noch einmal, wenn es schief läuft? teilweise kann man den sync nachdem man den fehler bemerkt hat noch manuell neu anstoßen, aber oft stellt Astrid hier komplett den dienst ein, bis man sie, ebenfalls händisch, neu bei Google authorisiert. auch kommen oft “erledigt” klicks nicht bei Google an, nach dem nächsten sync hat man dann einen längst vergessenen task erneut vor der nase. und ich habe wirklich keine lust mehr, ständig zu überprüfen, ob alles mit rechten dingen zugeht.
ich habe all dies den entwicklern bereits im direkt aus der app zu bedienenden forum mitgeteilt (an sich ein super feature), aber sie antworten nicht darauf. macht dann leider wenig sinn sich die mühe zu machen einen detaillierten fehlerbericht zu schreiben…

Google Reader: ich habe ja wirklich (wirklich!) alles ausprobiert an Android newsreader kram, aber keiner (keiner!) bietet eine ordnerbasierte navigation. ich habe meine feeds in kategorien sortiert, in die ich je nach laune rein schaue. das klappt soweit auch noch bei manchen apps, aber ich möchte dann nicht alle news einer kategorie auf einmal, sondern nach feeds geordnet sehen. ich lese immer nur bestimmte feeds, ebenfalls frei nach schnauze. das klappt wunderbar so nur im brauser direkt bei Google an, oder in der  offiziellen app.
letztere ist an sich also erste wahl, ich mag an der auch das minimalistische interface und die beschränkung auf nötigste funktionen.
aber: hier gab es ebenfalls ein nerviges update.
man kann nun zwischen neuen meldungen eines feeds direkt hin und her wischen
statt immer wieder zurück in die listenübersicht gehen zu müssen. dies führt aber oft dazu, daß ich aus versehen wische, und dann nach dem zurückwischen zum gerade gelesenen artikel wieder am anfang stehe und die stelle die ich vorher im auge hatte neu suchen muss. dies passiert besonders häufig beim lesen im liegen, aber auch manches mal, wenn bilder oder videos an der seite herausragen und man eigentlich nur ein wenig zur seite scrollen will, um sie ganz zu sehen. zoom geht nämlich schon mal garnicht, also was soll man machen, ne? beim seitwärts schielen snappt er dann aber ganz schnell rüber zum nächsten artikel, was mich regelmäßig um die muggelichkeit bringt und den puls zu rekordwerten animiert…

Go Launcher Ex: hier hat man soeben das hauptmenü, welches nach drücken des Menu buttons im Home und app bereich erscheint “überarbeitet”. es ist jetzt total weiß, hässlich, unpassend zum benutzten theme (anscheinen ist es nun theme-übergreifend überall gleich) und vollkommen unübersichtlich. man hat icons plus text darunter, was schon immer so (dämlich) war, aber das wort “Systemeinstellungen” mussten sie jetzt in eine zeile quetschen…
mal so generell: icons haben den sinn, daß sie universell, also überall verständlich, sein sollen. deshalb sollen sie ohne text funktionieren und selbsterklärend sein, damit eine mögliche sprachbarriere vermieden wird. meint man text dazu schreiben zu müssen, dann hat man beim design der praktischen bildchen versagt und sollte sie somit lieber gleich ganz weg lassen…

soweit meine kleine meckerei. was denken meine werten 2 bis 3 leser zur thematik? meinungen und vorschläge würden mich mal brennend interessieren!

i am 11 13 hours deep into the land of snow and dragons, and i know that is not very deep. not deep at all. i have not even scrached the surface of what can be found in there. i do not neccessarily plan on finishing the game, because for one, well, it has *unlimited* quests. another reason is, i do not feel this to be a game at all. this is a world. this is a real living place, not only with a good story, but also with a fascinating and believable history. this is the video game equivalent of Tolkien’s Middle-earth saga.

here, they call it “Tamriel“. but where Tolkien has been “lazy”, just putting Middle-earth on our planet, Earth, Bethesda, the creators of the “The Elder Scrolls” series, from which Skyrim is the latest iteration, made this place completely fictional, including it’s own planet: Nirn.

So, “Skyrim” is a land in Tamriel on Nirn. and like i did years back in “Morrowind” (the land sitting right next to Skyrim, also another game from The Elder Scrolls), i really want to explore this place end to end. i am not going so far to say i want to live there, although i really would like that (at least for a while), but i like spending time there. lots of time.

actually, time is irrelevant in that “game”. i have not even slept one single hour in Skyrim, because i do not need to. i could, if i chose to, but the game does not punish me behaving “unrealisticly”. it is built for fun and comfort, Bethesda has well understood the difference between “good realism” and “bad realism” (as in “good naked” and “bad naked”, if you are familiar with the Seinfeld legacy).

of course, a video game can only provide so much realism. and i must state: i do not even want realism. i want “realistic” physics, because playing with them is always fun, but i do not mind when stuff gets weird. and boy, does get stuff weird in Sykrim sometimes! Bethesda is known for having buggy games with lots of glitches, that can sometimes mess up something vital to the progress of the storyline, but that has yet to happen to me in Skyrim. and i must say, i enjoy the glitches! they are creepy at times, but often funny.

and here i want to post some pictures of my funny moments in Sykrim. also, i want to show off my Dragonborn (or Dovahkiin in dragonspeech) “Stromkopf”, a female Nord, currently level 6, which it seems i am specialising on two-handed wepons and heavy armor. but i also use a bow here and there, plus i do enjoy destruction spells a lot. i really like how the game lets you try out every playstyle, from aggressive “in your face” hand to hand combat, over long range, ranger or battle mage, style, to the totally stealthy “sneaky bastard” approach, where you dagger-stab enemies from behind, make them drop before they even know what hit them.

problem is, crap stopped being fun. and since noone really used it anyway, why keep it? exactly. so i did not keep it. looks cleaner and more spacey in here now.

also, it goes great with my comfy schmomfy new winter theme (beta), which i also just very recently applied. originally just to see how the site would look with a different background, but then i kinda rolled with it. got rid of the annoying orange, because i was in need of something less annoying. something calmer. orange is still my favorite color, but you see orange everywhere. seeing crap everywhere = boring. and while red, especially bordeauxish types of red, is also my favorite color, that is my pick of the moment. has often been my pick for recent websites as well. that’s how much i like it.

and while i was on it, i cancelled my G+ account. never really used it, anyway. do not need social networkings. not a single one.

comments are still very appreciated, though! you could say more than ever now, right? if you got something so say, say it. no matter what it is. communicate your feelings and ideas. with actual words, instead of buttons. sounds exhausting, i know. but believe me, it is more satisfying on the long run. and more fun.

but if you feel more like being sneaky and quiet, that is very okay as well. i mean it. i like ghosts. and quite frankly, being social is not the point of this website, anyway. this is just for me to rid all the crap out of my system. does not really matter if someone reads it.

still, it seems you do. and you might eventually take something away from it that makes your life a bit less miserable. that would be cool. and if you really like what i do, you will tell your friends, anyway…

Origin ist echt eine absolute katastrophe, aber don’t get me started… meine odyssee des “kontoanlegens” war ja bereits legendär, aber das ist eine andere geschichte. wie, die wollt ihr hören? na gut, aufgepasst:

ich so letztens die Battlefield 3 beta ausprobieren wollte, also erstmal Origin installieren, hilft ja nix. das ging auch noch, kann man nicht meckern. dann will er natürlich daß ich mich bei ihm anmelde. ich so nö, hab’ ja garkein konto bei dir, mach mir mal eben eins fertig. er so klar, füll mal aus den crample hier! username und so, passwort, du kennst den dial. ich so keepass hochgelunzt, weil ich ja nur noch sichere passwörter verwende, passwort generiert, rüber gepasted… rüber gepasted… RÜBER, VERDAMMT! er so nobb lol, copy & paste is’ nich’. ich so grrr, fick dich doch du pissnelke, 20-stellige, zufallsgenerierte, zeichen(ja sic, nicht nur einfach buchstaben, ich bin ja nicht bescheuert)-kombination abgetippt, nochmal 20-stellige, zufallsgenerierte zeichenkombo abgetippt (verifizierung), fertich! dachte ich, weil er dann wieder so nee, is’ nich’.

tja, ich so meanwhile noch ein paar mal versucht. nix zu machen. passwort und username irgendwie nicht so okay, sacht er mir ständig. dabei war mein gewählter username noch frei, wird bei eingabe sofort geprüft. zumindest nachdem man auf den entsprechenden link geklickt hat. passwort zu lang? kürzeres ausprobiert, auch nicht. hm…

irgendwie kam ich dann auf die glorreiche idee mir die Origin website (http://www.origin.com/de/about – noch so eine verwechslungsgefahr: das ist die download seite für die Origin app, origin.com führt in den Origin store, der natürlich genauso heißt. und dort wiederum einen link zum download der app zu finden… jesus christus…) mal genauer anzuschauen:

wie oft musste ich mir bei EA schon konten anlegen, wie oft wurden schon bei EA irgendwelche konten zusammengeführt, umbenannt, whattheschnitzel???

also EADM ist jetzt Origin, aber wieso wird dann das EA konto auf einmal komplett zum Origin konto? einfach nur mit dem EA konto in Origin einloggen hätte auch gereicht, oder? die scheinen sich ja sehr sicher zu sein daß Origin eine zukunft hat. wollen wir es hoffen, denn sonst heißt es bald erneut: dein Origin konto heißt jetzt EA konto. oderwasauchimmer.

plus: wie wäre es mit einem hinweis direkt im Origin client, daß man sich einfach mit seinem verfickten EA konto anmelden kann? denn man kann Origin auch elsewhere™ herunterladen, nicht nur auf oben genannter website. beispielsweise unter http://www.ea.com/de/1/origin. dort steht kein hinweis auf die EA / Origin konto misere. allerdings haben sie sich dort ein weiteres schmankerl erlaubt:

übrigens habe ich dann die Battlefield 3 demo nicht mehr ‘runtergeladen. nicht weil ich die schnauze voll hatte, sondern weil, nachdem ich es mit meinem §$%&#! EA konto endlich geschafft hatte mich bei Origin anzumelden, folgender hinweis kam:

…wollte ich mir hier vor einer weile schon einmal rein holen, hatte dann aber doch schiss, weil mir das ende zu krass und ich generell nicht sicher war ob man seine selbstzerstörerische selbstinszenierung unterstützen sollte. aber eigentlich tue ich das ja eh, denn ich habe ja bereits einige andere werke von ihm presented, was auch einen ganz einfachen grund hat: ich finde den scheiß einfach geil und der typ fasziniert mich ungemein! ich liebe es mich mit den untiefen des lebens auseinander zu setzen und interessiere mich natürlich auch für menschen, die das ebenfalls tun. allerdings ist meine persönliche wahl der vorgehensweise rein gedanklicher natur, denn ich bin überhaupt kein extremer mensch. eher mehr so geht so. kleines eingeschobenes dende-zitat, will sagen ich bin halt auf dem goldenen mittelweg unterwegs. tyler eigentlich weniger, ich denke aber daß auch er nach dem motto “der weg ist das ziel” lebt. nur so eine vermutung. sicher ist dagegen dies: unterwegs ist er defintiv!

Ihre bescheuerten “Stacks” hingegen braucht kein Mensch, und was mich richtig anpisst: Wo sind die RSS Feeds geblieben? Ich hatte mir genau und allein wegen diesem Feature einen Delicious Account angelegt, weil ich mit einem Plugin meine Bookmarks automatisch publishen lassen wollte.

Eigentlich nutze ich Xmarks zum Syncen meiner Firefox Bookmarks, damit kann man auch Ordner via RSS freigeben, allerdings liefern die keinen Zeitstempel mit. Also für zeitbasierte Aufgaben total ungeeignet, ich benutze das lediglich für die “DAS_NETWORK” Liste, unten, neben der Tag Cloud.

Mit Delicious hat es allerdings eine ganze Weile gut funktioniert, siehe meine “Meanwhile…” Rubrik. Aber nun kann ich mir wohl wieder einen neuen Bookmark Service suchen, welcher funktionierendes RSS liefert? Eben so eine Kinderkacke war immer mein Grund gewesen, keine Drittanbieter zu nutzen, denn wenn diese meinen, ihre “Kunden” brauchen bestimmte Features nicht mehr, dann werden die eben gestrichen.

Deshalb mache ich normal auch lieber mein eigenes Ding. Aber mit dem Bookmark Publishing hatte ich bisher keine Idee, wie ich es umsetzen könnte. Aber mal sehen, vielleicht fällt mir da noch etwas ein…

Mittlerweile habe ich etwas gefunden, anscheinend bin ich nicht der Einzige, der die Feeds vermisst. Aber sie sind noch da, nur versteckt sie AVOS (der neue Besitzer) aus irgendeinem Grund. In diesem Artikel steht wie man sie wiederfindet. Hätte man auch selber drauf kommen können, aber naja … es ist halt sehr seltsam, wieso es keinen Link mehr unter der eigenen Bookmark-, pardon, Linkliste (eine weitere Änderung von AVOS, es heißt jetzt “Links” statt “Bookmarks”) gibt, wie vorher…

Während ich das Ganze gerade noch einmal teste, weil irgendwie die pubDate nicht bei jedem Eintrag im Feed erscheint, merke ich, daß die alte URL mit dem “feeds.” davor plötzlich auch wieder funktioniert. nun denn, da hat AVOS wohl schnell reagiert…

Allerdings muss sich jetzt noch zeigen, ob es noch einmal Änderungen gibt, und ob der Feed noch Probleme machen wird. Ach ja, außerdem hoffe ich, daß es sehr bald ein Update der Android App “DeliciousDroid” gibt, denn diese funktioniert momentan auch nicht mehr…

Ich überlege mir also immer noch, ob ich mir selber etwas bastel für meine “Meanwhile…” Linkdumps. DIY ist nunmal immer noch die einzige Lösung, auf die man sich wirklich verlassen kann.

keine ahnung, aber ich sitze hier grad so am mainufer, ein wenig den bildschirmschoner aktivieren. kommt auf einmal so ein typ, stellt sich ein paar meter neben mich, leicht versetzt hinter meinem rücken, und starrt mich an. hab’s erst garnicht bemerkt, nur dieses seltsame, beklemmende gefühl … welches man auch nicht bewusst wahr nimmt, das einen aber plötzlich und unvermittelt aufschauen lässt … direkt in die richtung der starrenden person.

normalerweise schaut diese dann schnell weg und tut ganz unschuldig. aber nicht der typ. steht da mit verschränkten armen und starrt mich an. fucking creep. erinnert mich allerdings daran daß ich selber wohl nicht halb so creepy bin wie ich mich immer fühle.

verdammte selbstwahrnehmung. kann man doch sicher irgendwo kalibrieren, oder? bin für jeden tipp dankbar. auch zum thema selbstverteidigung.

This one is called “Avalanche”, as you already know. I experimented a lot with the beat, think it is the first one where i used two different hi-hats … not quite sure. Had a lot of fun with programming the hell out of this shit…

And then there is me rapping over it, quite angrily … about mean people. and how they suck. mean people suck. Don’t be a mean people!

What else can i say? This song is old … between-2000-and-2002-ish … it was on my second album, “Ausserirdische Technologie”, which i kind of released in 2002 as well.

The Album’s cover is featured down there (way down), it was named after my record label, which i founded in 2000. Or “AT0″, rather, because back then i invented my own timeline, which i still use on this here website … in case you always wanted to know that.

About the artist name … “SKID” … there is a littlebit of explanation on the intro page of stromkopf.com, but maybe you skipped that … so for the record:

My handle back in the days was just “skid”. small letters. before sido, or anyone else, did that. because i was a hipster before there were hipsters.

I gave myself that name, because i got sick of the handle i had before it … don’t even remember what it was … but as a “computer freak”, people used to call us that, you had to have a handle. and i was a computer freak since i was 12 … i am 35 now, so i had a lot of different handles.

For many years, “skid” was fine. And it still is. Friends started calling me that (fortunately my parents didn’t), some still do, it’s cool.

But this one day, i was playing Diablo II, or was it Left 4 Dead, with my girlfriend, when just out of the blue she called me “STROMKOPF!!!” … must have had her reasons, i think i deliberately forgot.

I was like “WTF???”, she was like “I MEANT STROHKOPF!!!!!”, i was like “NOOB, LOL!!!!!!!!”.

We are not together anymore.

FYI: “Strohkopf” is German for “hayhead”, if that makes some sense. It is actually something Germans say. Well, used to say, it is quite an old swearword. It’s “vintage”.

(i just looked it up, in English you would probably rather say “dunce”, or “numbskull”)

But that is all unimportant. What’s important is the fact that the word “Stromkopf” really got stuck inside my head. I had never heard it before, i did not even know it was a word. I am not even sure now if it is, there is not much coming up if you google it. Something that has something to do with vulcanos i guess … oh, it means “powerhead” in English … which, of course, is a real word, but like i said, the german “Stromkopf” really isn’t.

Anyway, i wanted to keep it. Then i realized what was even cooler: “skid” could be “SKID”, which could be an acronym for … wait for it … “Strom Kopf IDentität”! See what i did there? “Identität” being German for “identity”, in case you haven’t figured that out already.

So, you can still call me “SKID”. But i am not so hot about “skid” anymore…

Okay, so right now i hope i made you curious enough and you are like “LET’S HEAR THE DAMN THING ALREADY!!!” … or maybe you already heard it, got bored, moved on, and are not even reading this…

Oh, one last thing: I always do my vocals one-take. Always.
